The Grand Opening of Menagen Pharmaceutical Industries Plant in Rusayl Industrial Area

Muscat, Oman – June 3, 2024

In a significant stride towards bolstering Oman’s healthcare sector, the Menagen Pharmaceutical Industries plant was officially inaugurated in the Rusayl Industrial Area. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, alongside other dignitaries and officials.

With an investment exceeding OMR 20 million, the state-of-the-art facility spans 12,000 square meters and is constructed in compliance with the standards set by Oman’s Ministry of Health, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). This makes it the first facility of its kind in the Middle East dedicated to the production of specialized medicines for rare diseases and cancer treatments.

Dr. Saif bin Khalfan Al-Hassani, CEO of Menagen Pharmaceutical Industries, emphasized the plant’s role in localizing pharmaceutical manufacturing within the Middle East and North Africa region. He highlighted the factory’s potential to enhance drug security, stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and foster scientific research and innovation.

The facility also houses a development and innovation center, established in partnership with Sultan Qaboos University’s Centre for Medical Research. This center aims to facilitate preliminary studies and research, further advancing Oman’s capabilities in drug discovery and development.
